Casino Royale/Children of Men

Casino Royal

I have never been much of a Bond fan - they seem to be aimed at 14yr old American boys are British adult males - but I liked Casino Royale. It seemed to be a much more adult version of Bond, more on par with the Bourne movies. The movie was unexpectedly long, and the plot got a ittle muddled but I am actually eager for a new Bond movie now.

Children of Men

The movie was decent but it never really captured me. The story would have made a good mini-series but left too much unanswered in the movie format. The production also seemed a awkward to me.

I liked Casino Royale a lot too. It was what I was expecting, I give it an 8.

CoM on the other hand was a huge disappointment. The first 20 minutes or so were good but it went downhill from there. I was really looking forward to watching it and had high expectations which may be part of the reason I didn't like it as much as it was such a let down, but I'd only give it a 4.5 at the most. Not something I'd watch again.

As for disturbing scenes, the only one that comes to mind that I wouldn't like to watch again is the rape scene in Derailed. The drowning scene didn't bother me.

I liked Bond quite a lot. Good fun, I agree it was overly long and could've done with more liberal editting/scriptwriting.

Didn't see the other one.

Agree with roy on CoM. It had so much 1984-like potential. I still can't get over all the soldiers just letting her walk away...that bothered me.

Derailed is an AWESOME movie...and ya, the rape scene (obv only the 1st time ;)) was hard and that movie REALLY gets you to hate aniston's character, which says something really good about the movie. (Not to hate aniston, but to get you emotionally involved to hate a character).

It was the look in her eyes/face...authentic appearing, without seeing a real one myself.

Yeah. It was unbelievably realistic. Which is a credit to the acting I guess, but very disturbing.

I also agree about how it gets you to hate her character. I think the plot twist is VERY predictable and you can see it coming from a mile away, but it was still a good movie. I wouldn't watch it again though.

Be glad your opponents refuse to fold; if they didn't, you just might go broke.
