any tips how to get good reads without pokertracker?
I try to keep notes, but players only playing few hands and raising big pairs are hard to spot as I'm unable to tell whether he played only few hands, or he just sat down and that's why I don't know about him.

Not JT exactly, but we have a made hand that isn't getting better and we're 3-way. Our CR would look so strong but AK/KJ/JT aren't folding but they're not gonna get their wish to keep the pot small. The downside is that JT won't push, but inflating the pot for AK/KJ to call down and to force a big mistake from an AJ/AT gives a raise a lot of value.

Now, were livo to CR our CR, we can save $20, but a lot of both their ranges can call a CR with 1 pair, I think. Not that they'd be right to do so. Just that you're bound to get someone to calldown the rest of the hand from behind.

Although I'm guessing you didn't have any really good information on livo, one of the things you pay attention to are the lack of screwups or donk plays an opponent makes. Livo might have fit into the category of only raising premium hands, and that makes your KQo call preflop OOP pretty bad against him if his range UTG raising is only TT+ AK, AQ. So, to answer your earliest question, yeah, against some alot of players I fold this preflop because we will usually be in a case where we can be dominated.

If no one has mentioned it to you before, I would recommend Poker Tracker to first get some idea of how much people are coming in and their aggression. It's a great tool to really start defining where your opponent's ranges are. But, notetaking and paying attention to all the moves or lack of moves opponents make is important, especially the higher up in games you move. Just putting down a simple, "TAG" or "Rock" or "Maniac" in the note area can help make a decision easier. But, PT is where to start.
