I called on the river just to see what the quy had, think I was probably a bit tilted too. So my question here is when to give up on the bluff? I figured it was a weak bet on the flop so thats why I re-raised him. When he checked the turn I thought a big enough raise would take it down. Thoughts?

I'm pretty new to poker

if you want to get him off his draw raise the pot
raise the pot means that he has to call what he has put in before you + the pot amount

put in the money he raised before you
then put in another full pot amount (which is the money he raised before + the money that was in the pot)
that would be around 5$

5$ is a lot only to find out whether you can get him off the draw.
Thats why I fold to his bet.
