Rake rebates...

Postby TheUnknownPlayer » Mon Dec 13, 2004 10:16 am

I've only got about 4 hours to get the answer to this question so if anyone can help me out I'd be grateful.

When someone signs up under you... what kind of percentage of their rake are you eligible for under the current system? Anyone know?

Thanks,

TUP

think ya get it all on Party/EP.. Or atleast a sign-up bonus on sites that don't offer rake rebate.

i'm not a affiliate. just my guess on how things work.
either way, has to beat playing live. Although that does have perks i've yet to find out about yet.

I may not be possible to make a living from a % of peoples rake, but it is a nice bonus, especially as you need do nothing else. If you view poker as purely about the money then making without the risk of playing cannot be knocked.

In all honesty it probably IS possible to live off other people's rake. I was speaking to the owner of "The Site We May Not Name" the other day and he explained that typical players under his rebate programme get $50-200 per month from the rebate, and one or two really serious ones (incl. one pro) make anything up to $500+. When you take into account the fact that this guy has several DOZEN people in this programme (although if I understand right some of the money goes into various costs for the site, and for the other people involved in running it) you can see that with such a set-up it's probably the case that several THOUSAND dollars a month might be coming in purely from the rebate.

If I could find a way to easily set up a passive income stream of somewhere in the region of $1000-2000 per month on top of my winnings, my record from the past year might convince me (once it's possible for me to do so) to turn pro. I think picking up some of the "free" money out there from rake rebates, site bonuses, and things like affiliate programmes (as iceman has), teaching the odd student for a few $, and advertising through websites, is how the "smart" pro or semi-pro player these days turns a moderate monthly turnover into something much more lucrative.
