AA vs. sLAG ($200 FR)

Postby geiststaat » Tue Mar 13, 2007 1:47 pm

Another hand in my quest to shore up my big pair play. I'm hoping to keep the pot smaller so that I'm not risking my stack on just an overpair. Right sort of strategy or too passive? I have AA in EP ($205 stack) and raise $8. TAG set miner in MP calls ($900 stack), sLAG ($230 stack) calls also in MP.

Flop: [9s] [6c] [4s] ($27)
I bet $15, TAG folds, sLAG thinks for a bit and calls

Turn: [6h] ($57)
I check, sLAG bets $30, I call

River: [2c] ($117)
I check, sLAG bets $40, I call

My standard c-bet would be 20-27, but I chose the smaller amount because the TAG is almost surely fit or quit, so he's folding to half pot and up. Wasn't sure if sLAG's second best hands would call a PSB, so I didn't want to fold out those with a big bet. Downside is that sLAG does not define his hand, so his range is still pretty large.

Similar sort of reason for the turn play. I think chances are extremely high that he bets the turn if I check, but if I fire again I think he folds hands like 45, T9, or 88.
