What to do?

Postby gnurulle » Sun Mar 11, 2007 4:13 am

Hi guys,
I'm doing this too often, I fear, but I need fresh perspectives. I didn't like the way I was playing before where I got myself into all sorts of trouble by betting myself into trouble on substandard hands. I therefore tightened up preflop. Didn't really help.

So, here are my stats for this year: I have my teories on what I'm doing wrong, but I most of all I want fresh perspectives.

I don't always put much stake in statistics. And I'm hardly an expert in which stats are the "best." But anyway, fwiw, here's my take.

It's hard to understand all the stats. Is this a combination of 6-max and full ring? The position stats look like 6-max only, but the general stats seem to show both kinds.

If the general stats include both kinds, then it's hard to comment on them. I would say they generally look fine though.

Position stats: I think you're raising OTB and in the CO too little, and the SB too much. Your OTB and CO raise % first-in should be higher than your SB raise % first-in. You want big pots when you're in position, not out of it.

To my mind, you're also playing the MP position too similar to the CO position. The extra guy to act behind you is a very big deal. I would play tighter/ less raisey from MP and/or looser and more aggressive PF from the CO.

I would also go and run the biggest losing hands you've played and look for leaks.

Good luck.

Your 6max stats look bad. (Sorry to say that.)
You are too tight, too aggresive, and you rarely win at showdowns. (with 21% went to SD you should win way more often)

As for recomendations, there is no easy way too fix it, you can't just start playing more hands, it will just lead to a worse results, as you need to work on your postflop play first.

The best way to do IMO is to drop down a level and try to work on your game, openning it up a bit. Judging from your stats you probably should go to 50NL, as you don't seem to beat 100NL.
