I made some changes recently and thought I would post them in here to see.
First, I have switched to organic foods. Secondly, I removed the supplements Creatine and Glutamine from my diet. Creatine I am removing for good ... Glutamine I am keeping on hand for instances where I have digestive issues, muscle cramping, and dehydration.
I have added a supplement called "Marine Phytoplankton." After doing some exploring on the internet ... I decided to try this out. It's just what it sounds like ... Plankton harvested from the ocean. The reason I'm taking it, is that it's not a supplement, but a super-nutritional-bomb food source ... I won't go on too much about it here but it seems WELL worth an investigation if you guys feel like checking it out. The absorbtion rate on this 60+ vitamin/mineral food is 97%. Compare that to 5-15% for a lot of vitamins.
So after about 3 days on this new routine, I can say that I feel a great deal better. It is possible that there is a placebo affect going on ... I can't rule that out ... but I definitely notice differences in the way I feel ... my alertness ... and some other benefits too.
The cost of the food is more expensive (per unit) ... what I am finding though is that the net cost has not gone up. The reason is that I find I need less food to eat as the nutritional content is far more dense in the organics. It's absolutely delicious too. I haven't felt hungry or even slightly malnourished in days.
I am now eating primarily organic fruits and vegetables ... and a lot of them. Dark green salads with lots of cut up veggies. I am eliminating "cow" meat except for special occassions. (Ie. steak is just too good to give up, but I will eat ground turkey or other products when at home.) Organic meat seems a bit much pricewise ... but everything else is pretty okay. Here's a list of what I picked up:
Organic
~ milk
` eggs (free range)
` stone ground flour
- oatmeal
- fruits and veggies (lots)
- bread (stone-ground)
- cereals
- oatmeal
- tofu (for salads and stir-fry)
- yogurt
- pasta (flax)
- salad dressing
- flax (for putting in shakes, on salad, cereal ... whatever.)
- sea salt (sea salt contains over 60 usable minerals, table salt contains 4.)
- green tea
Organic Personal Products
- toothpaste
- aftershave
- deoderant
- lip balm
(These organic personal products feel absolutely great btw. The aftershave and the toothpaste especially.) They are made with mostly plant products and tea-tree oil. It's far nicer than the harsher chemicals in the mass-produced stuff. The toothpaste cost me $7 and the aftershave was $6. I figured for the amount of time these products last ... it's worth it. (As an aside ... if anyone has not heard of the sonic toothbrush, I would give this an enthusiastic 2 thumbs up as a recommdation.)
So that's it ... I just wanted to share that with anyone who was interested in healthy eating. I can share more of what I've learned on request.
The only 2 supplements I now take other than just normal food are a daily multivitamin, and the E3Live (Marine Phytoplankton.) Oh sorry, also whey protein ... but 1/2 what I was taking.)
So that's my experience this far. If there's interest, I can post more as my little self-experiment continues.
