BB is a MT regular, runs at 23/12/2.2 . In general I don't mind playing him as he is not very creative postflop. He plays lots of tables though >4.

Seat 2: Hero [Qc] [Qh] ($394.00 in chips)
Seat 4: Button ($127.85 in chips)
Seat 7: SB ($641.90 in chips)
Seat 8: BB ($404.00 in chips)
Seat 9: UTG ($489.10 in chips)
ANTES/BLINDS
SB posts blind ($2), BB posts blind ($4).

PRE-FLOP
UTG folds, Hero bets $11, BB calls $7.

FLOP
(24): [Jc] [Ts] [9s]
BB checks, Hero checks.

TURN
(24): [8s]
BB bets $18, Hero raises to $66, BB calls $48.

RIVER
(156): [5h]
BB checks, Hero?
Who VB here?

I decided to bet:
Hero bets $77, BB raises to $154, Hero?

Thoughts on my line. Flop, turn, river as usual :).
Thanks in advance.

Be glad your opponents refuse to fold; if they didn't, you just might go broke.

I hate being CR on the river that is why I am checking behind. Also, I think he might check call with the msde str8 because of the flush. I think checking behind is better.

Pure NL strategy posts esp from the good players are exactly what we need in the NL section - not many of us have the time to read everyone's journals.

As for the hand in question I too was puzzled by the flop check followed by the stop and go - if the flop was rainbow (so I have the best draw too KQ excepted) then I may well slowplay it - but here I fire away the pot...I figure I'm ahead now and if a spade comes on the turn I may end up getting a lot of money in when I am drawing dead.

The stop and go does confuse opponents but it sure confuses me too. Surely only an inveterate chaser is going to call any significant bet with a flush draw with one card to come anyway - so I'm not clear how you are making much money on this hand vs a guy who is on a flush draw unless your opponent really likes to push folks around with air on the end (and with a possible made str8 out there - it does seem a donky time to bluff from his perspective).
Or do you think that any FD is going to CR you all-in if you bet the flop and the check is a defence against that?

I know that a K non-spade makes you gold - but any spade, ace or board pairing puts you in a tricky spot on turn and I'd bet out here I think...

As played and with that spade dropping I would play conservatively I think - just check/call him down - I'd be getting my notes handy when I saw what he had too..
