Weird Spot with Two-Pair

Postby Devbert » Sun Feb 25, 2007 9:36 am

Local house game in Pacific Beach, mostly a mix of younger guys all with a lot of playing experience against each other. Buy-in $200, blinds $1/2.

I limp 5-6 off-suit in the CO, really good LAG in SB makes it $11 to go, BB just calls, I call. (SB started with $150ish, BB with $800ish, me with $550). SB has been running pretty bad , usually plays a few pots uber-aggro every now and then to keep the table on their toes.

Flop is A[c]5[c]6[d].

SB leads out $20, BB folds, I make it $60, he pushes for a little less than $100 more.

Who calls this?

Poker is silly.

It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.

Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.

Be glad your opponents refuse to fold; if they didn't, you just might go broke.

Shamdonk - that's probably the most hilarious avatar ever.

Anywyas, I ended up rushing my decision and insta-calling, because I felt like if he had A-5/A-6/5-5/6-6 it was just a cold deck, and as a LAG his range would include hands like 6[c]7[c] or 7[c]8[c] or 8[c]9[c] and Aces with good kickers.

He stacked me with A-A. I just felt like I shouldn't have rushed the decision in insta-calling him even though it was only $100 more - LAGs who raise pre-flop out of the blind then lead the flop and then instantly come over the top all-in of your flop-raise tend to not be bluffing.

I guess cause of his range and stack size though it's a pretty automatic call. I still felt kind of like a donk for giving him another $160 to re-distritube among the table at his discretion.
