Poker is silly.

It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.

Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.

When I'm playing poker (or doing anything else at the computer where I'm a little nervous -- at the beginning of online Warcraft/Starcraft games, for instance), when I'm not actually using the mouse for a second or two at a time, my mouse hand is constantly moving on the mousepad. I pick up the right side of the mousepad and sort of flick it with my fingers. By the end of a long, intense poker session, I often have black goop from under the mousepad underneath my finernails. Had to replace one mouse pad so far.

When I was a professor, I used to pace constantly. My students thought it was because I was really nervous. Nope: when I'm very nervous in front of groups, I totally freeze. Pacing just keeps my brain going, and I can only do it when I'm feeling good. I'm always a *little* nervous in front of a classroom (or any room full of people), but when I'm feeling good it's a good nervous and it comes out in energy and pacing and probably hand-waving and telling stupid jokes.

When I was younger, I was totally fidgeting all the time. My legs would go, my arms would go, everything. That tendency has slowed down a lot in recent years -- and I have gained a bunch of weight during that same time period.
