It is about 5 times longer than your usual posts

It's interesting

If the Japanese 'Freeters' are most likely amongst their countrymen to excel at poker how hampered are they by their lack of disposable income. Not that I actually want them to excel obviously and yes I realise you can build a BR from a $ or nothing.

How fast is your fibre-optic connection?

Agree with most of it. But i think you're applying Japanese values to the rest of Asia too easily. Japan is relatively western. The biggest hurdle to poker in Asia imo is government imposed morality (cue Frist joke). Those societies are so conservative that that censorship and banning of 'vices' like gambling (hell even alcohol is banned in places) have become institutionalized and are not likely to change very quickly. Otherwise, sure, China, India, SE Asia etc have a growing middle class that doesnt mind splashing their money around for fun.

Btw, hasnt it started yet. I'm pretty sure i remember playing with guys from Asia on the old party.

molina - i think my line speed is a theoretical 100mb/sec. to be honest, i can't really recall. all i know is that it's faster than what i had at my previous location (a bit rural) and NOTHING is slow unless it's caused by the other end. sadly, for xbox live, there's a noticeable lag when i'm playing against americans or europeans (esp. on halo 2). i think that has more to do with geographic difference than line speed.

redhouse - yeah, you're kind of right. that being said, there is a TON of gambling in japan, korea, and any flavor of china, and those are the ones i focused on. online will, of course, be much easier to monitor, so korea and china may crack down a bit. i probably should have said that i know next to nothing about SE asia or south asia. there were/are some people from east asia playing online, but they seem to be relatively few.
