When I sat down the table was kind of weak/tight so started by raising maybe 5 hands big preflop, taking them down either immediatly or on the flop, and showing my junk. I raised to $14 out of the SB when half the table limped and showed K8o when they all folded so I've created a very LAG image and the table has loosened up a lot now. Blinds are $1/$2

Overpair #1
I've got red tens in LP. EP limps and MP raises to $6, folded to me. I raise to $14 by mistake because I didn't see it had already been raised, so it's almost a mini-reraise. Limper folds and raiser flat calls. He has a full stack, I cover.

Flop comes 297 with a spade draw. He bets $16 into $30. I think for a few seconds and call.

Turn is the . he bets $32 and I call (I have no spade). River is the for a final board of 25679 with three spades. He bets $62, I call.


Overpair #2
I've got QQ in the SB. UTG+1 raises to $8 and gets a caller. I repop to $34 and raiser flat calls, cold caller gets out of the way. Raiser started with $150.

Flop comes 44J rainbow. I check and he checks behind. Turn is a 5 completing the rainbow. I put him all-in so it is ~$115 to him and the pot has ~$80.

I don't understand your play in either hand.

#1 raise the flop. He bet into you weak, I would raise with almost any two cards here. Having an overpair it's a must raise imo.

#2 Are you just trying to confuse him, or what? What is someone's typical raising range UTG? AA-88, AK-AQ? Does this guy have a significantly wider range so that we should add AJ/KQ/suited connectors? You lose to AA KK JJ and by pushing you guaranteed losing a full stack to them. You are ahead of pretty much every other likely hand, and by pushing you pretty much guarantee that they fold, don't you? Or do you think TT 99 88 will call you here because you checked the flop? The only hand that could call that I see is AJ, and I don't see him having that very often. If he does have AJ, the way to get money from him is to bet the flop normally. So I just don't get it.

I'm not sure what the player in hand #1 is doing. I kind of think he is weak, since the normal play would be to check to the LAG and let him hang himself. Perhaps he is trying to do this by only betting half the pot on the flop, trying to get you to come over the top. If I were him, I would be a bit concerned that a LAG has raised it preflop and then just called two of my bets. I might put out a blocking bet on the end, but it would be less than half the pot. If I were you I would have put a raise in there on the turn at least as you are pretty much in the dark here.

Hand #2 is okay I guess. I assume you are playing on your LAG image here, but I'm not sure weaker hands are going to call you. Something more like $50, perhaps? You may have set up a loose image but I'm not sure you have the maniacal part built up enough to convince people that you'll put a stack in the middle with air.

I probably wasn't very clear when I tried to explain this so let me try again.

I haven't really changed my style, the thing that is different is that I have a very LAG *image* because I spent the first 10 hands or so creating it to loosen up the table. After that I immediatly switched gears back to normal to exploit the new setting.

I do know how to play LAG because I play >20% of all my hands as a LAG. EP I play like a rock, MP I play TAG and LP I play LAG. Very simple. My vpip UTG is something like 12-15%, on the button it definetely over 30% and I raise very liberally OTB and practically never UTG.

Hand #1
I think raising on the flop and folding to action is a reasonable alternativ but I also think you lose out on a lot of bluff equity by doing it.

Hand #2
I would say that no matter what I bet on the flop or turn I will get stacked by AA-JJ because of stack sizes relative to the pot. I pushed the turn because I think my check on the flop coupled with a turn push looks *exactly* like AK and is liable to get called by any pair.

With bluffing equity I mean the equity I get from HIM bluffing. Look at the board. What sort of hand would you be comfortable betting that river with against a LAG? An overpair with a one-card straight AND a flush out? He can't have a straight so I'm thinking he either has the flush (which makes sense he could have or something) or he's bluffing the whole way.

They WERE weak/tight when I sat down, after I pulled some silly raises and bluffs which I showed, the table has loosened up and is playing much faster, some people are probably steaming a bit too.
