I can't call this ... can I? ($100 NL 6-max)

Bodog, land of the crazies.

I have [Ah][Qh] in the BB. UTG raises to $3, gets 3 callers including the SB, I decide against a reraise because I know most of the field will call anyway, but I can't fold for this price either, so I call.

Pot $15. Flop [Qc][8c][4c]. SB checks, I lead $14, UTG thinks and raises to $50. Folds to SB who CRAIs for a total of $110. $96 to me to call. UTG has a little less than $60 left behind after his $50 bet, so raising isn't a relevant option.

UTG seems decent (for Bodog), no clue at all about the SB.

I led the flop because I didn't want to check/call and I also didn't want to check/raise. Do you really hate the lead? Or should I lead a different amount? Or check/fold???

I did instamuck. I was sure this was at least a flush/set vs. overpair situation. But as often happens, Bodog players proved worse than I expected.

UTG tanks and calls and shows another AQ, SB flips AJ with the [Ac]. TPTK holds up.

At Bodog, AQ is good there a lot more often than you would think. I'm not sure I make this call next time, but I will think about it a lot longer....

Don't think results oriented. Top pair that board without a club in your hand in a 5 way pot OOP just isn't worth anything. Most of the time you will be crushed if you get action.

Suppose the hand went this way: you lead 14$, and everyone folds to the guy in last position who raises to 32$ and the sb folds. Wtf are you gonna do? He could simply be raising a draw, but then it's also very much possible that he's got top pair beat. Playing the hand OOP is difficult, you aren't too likely to win much money and you are in a situation where you can easily make a mistake that will cost you a lot of chips.

You should strive to get involved in a situations where you have the edge (be it a strong hand or position) and your opponents have to make difficult decisions that are likely to lead to mistakes, not the other way around.

So you check/fold? Check/call?

I'd prolly check and call 1 modest bet. Prefer re-raising preflop though, unless the utg raiser is a nit.

You're only a small favourite over the [Ac], and way behind lots of other stuff that could be out there in a 5 handed flop.

When I play a patient and relaxed game I win - that simple.

I think you should check the flop and see what happens, it's not like you have to decide whether you're goint to call, raise or fold NOW, get some more information to base your decision on. If you gave a free card to the naked [Ac], so what, the pot is small, your edge is tiny and once the 4:th club shows up your decision is easy.

It's a good place for a squeeze preflop though. I'd probably pop it to $15 preflop.
