Postby Jossnaz » Sat Jan 20, 2007 11:50 am

Hello

no read on villain. Villain has 30 dollars and I cover with 50.

I'm dealt

[Ah] [Ad]

1 limper
I raise to 2.50, guy to my left calls.

pot 6 dollars
flop
[9h] [4s] [6c]

I bet 5.50
Villain calls

turn
[Jd] pot ~17 dollars
I check
Villain checks

river
[Kh] pot ~17 dollars
I bet 10 dollars
Villain goes all in, 20 dollars

10 dollars for me to call. I had the feeling that I was behind.

would you have played differently?
Don't lead river?

results in white:

I call.
Villain showed Jh Jc.
Villain wins 57 dollars

thanks for the answers

This outcome remembers me a lot of Theory of poker mentioning how to play vs tight/loose tables the part where he quotes someone moaning (at tight tables) about winning a lot money with bad hands just by betting, and losing the won amount with few good hands. I find myself in this spot.

It's hard to get away from those hands, but would you shove turn knowing villain is ultratight? Actually I think the same, these high overpairs should be played... but the last 50 times I had overpairs it's been frustrating. Got called several times but only by sets or perhaps me holding KK and facing AA.

But am I right this shove on turn is to make villain fold and not hit his set on the river?

Because he'll only call a shove with a set (at least thats how I would be playing). If he's holding AK, AQ I want him to hit his Ace or king on the river actually. If he's holding 1010-KK I'm simply lucky if he's calling that shove, or would you call a shove holding overpair 1010-KK? Would you shove in this situation on turn holding QQ,KK perhaps JJ if there were a 10 instead of a J on turn?

thanks guys
