Beavis, did you create this thread as a front for another of your anti Communist tirades (exemplified by your avatar), or are you serious about visiting Cuba?

From the CANF home page you linked to:

"The Cuban American National Foundation (CANF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing freedom and democracy in Cuba."

Uh, that'd be a right wing pressure/propaganda group, then.

So you have a choice. You can either believe the opinons of a US funded group with obvious vested interests, or you can find numerous other sites on the web (eg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuba) that will tell you:

"According to World Health Organization statistics, life expectancy and infant mortality rates in Cuba have been comparable to Western industrialized countries since such information was first gathered in 1957."

or thirdly you could actually do what you're talking about, which is to go and see for yourself.

Some chance.

Wikipedia also talks about the lack of medicines. I have searched several sites and sources.

Wikipedia does not contradict anything that the CANF site says.

According to other things I have read, cuba has a lot of doctors, but many do not practice because they cant make enough money. They take jobs where they can earn hard currency.

Yes, I am really interested in visiting but no one here seems to know much but the communist propaganda spread by the Castro administration.

I will take the word of people that came from Cuba and actually had to go through the system.

Is the Pan American Health Organization also a right-wing group?

How about we stick to the original topic and discuss travel.
How can a country with asprin shortages have a world class health care system?

supposedly the music has really evolved beyone what the rest of the world has heard.

they do have some great aspects to their health care system. Vaccinatkions and pre-natal care especiall, but the abortion raite is really really high too so that may pad the figures.

I think that is cool that you plan on going. I have a friend in Costa Rica I may talk to about "hosting" my trip. Hosted trips are acceptable in US citizens.

Acceptable to Cuba?
Or to US Govt?

I would have thought any tourist with hard currency would be acceptable to Cuba..

I meant that hosted trips are acceptable to the treasury department because the ban is against Americans spending money in Cuba or on Cuban products anywhere

LOL citizens of the 'land of the free' need government permission to leave the country to go to Cuba?

sort of like those Russian Jews wanting exit visas to go to Israel in the Brezhnev era?

OMG..
