Weakish overpairs...table full of idiots

Postby iceman5 » Mon Jan 15, 2007 2:26 pm

$1/$2 NL at Tribeca. The table is full of idiots like I havent seen in a while.

There was a hand a few mins ago where 3 guys put $47 in preflop. One had KQ and flopped a str8.
Every raise is called multiple times.
A guy with ($50) just limped A6..called my $10 raise, led $4 into a Axx flop and called my all in...he turned a 6 adn beat my AQ
There were 3 or 4 other hands with raises and reraise getting called more than once but no showdowns.

#1) UTG ($180) playing 74 / 0 limps...I raise to $14 with [Ts][Tc].
MP ($92) playing 74 / 14 calls
Another MP ($180) playing 40 / 6 also calls.
UTG folds.

Pot $47. Flop [8s][7d][4h] . I bet $28, MP folds but next guy calls. This is not one of the maniacs and I have no read.
Pot $103. Turn [4c]...whats my play?

#2) Few hands later....chat is heating up....UTG limps, The caller from hand #1 opens to $6 UTG. I make it $21 in the BB with [Jd][Js]. UTG cold calls (this is the guy who got $47 in preflop with KQ). Preflop raiser calls also.

Pot $64. Flop [8c][2d][2c]. I lead $40, UTG calls $20 all in, next guy calls $40.
Pot $164. Turn [5d]. He has $180 left and I cover...Whats my play?

You should LOVE hand 1 since 87 just got counterfieted and he may only have a draw...play it strong.

Hand 2: Same deal...he's likely on a draw with overcards so play it fast.

"#3 pencils and quadrille pads."

#1) What hand range would you give a non maniac who calls $14 preflop? How much do you narrow it after he calls the 874 flop?

hand 1: bet, call shove.

hand 2: this is tough. i can see arguments for betting $110/calling push, check/folding, or check-calling. as a default i think i like a check-call. he may try to take the pot down with any number of small pairs against what will look like a missed AK on your part. if turn checks behind i like a river value bet.
