I have a Sony 32" Bravia and I have only noticed ghosting (image lag) during battle scenes in movies, and I don't think anyone else even notcies. And trust me, many a akrid and locusts have been pwn3d on that TV. Its response time is 8 ms but I'm sure the newer one's will be even lower.
If you're gonna play games burn in is still an issue on plamsa I believe, and I personally think LCD>Plasma anyways so I'd go with that.
I would go with either a Sony, Samsung, or Aquos LCD, and buy them on ebay if you can. So far on ebay we've boughten 4 TVs less than a year old that look like new from AuctionDrop on ebay for the following.....
32" LCD Sony Bravia (mine) a year and a half ago for $1000
50" LCD Projection Sony Wega (subs) a year and a half ago with stand for $1300
50" LCD Panasonic Projection last summer for $650
42" Vizio Plasma for $650 a month ago
All TVs came looking like they're new and we've never had a problem with any of them. My cousin is in the process of buying a 37" LCD Aquos from them for $700, the service is great and their prices are rediculous. So yeah, you're basically being a donk if you walk into Best Buy and pay full price.
The better player should win the race. Always.
