memory upgrade worth it?

getting a new laptop mainly to play poker/run pokertracker/hud, video games will be played on it as well...warcraft 3 and the like

wondering if its worth upgrading from...

1024MB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
to
2048MB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)

for $135, i normally wouldnt consider it but the 1024 is two 512 chips instead of 1 1024 chip so i cant upgrade it anymore without removing one of the 512 chips

i dont know all that much about computers and i dont really know how much the upgrade improves the laptops performance...any advice?
