In Grade 8 was under a buck,
weighed buck 65 and 6'1" in Freshman year of school.
Now 6'2' and 190. I put on 20lbs of lean muscle in 2 years between 18-20 then quit working out. I have a bit of fat for the first time ever...Makes swimming easy.
Eat 6 meals a day. They start at 500 calories each. If you don't gain the first week, add 500 calories more in total per day. You should see 1lb per week increases when you are eating enough. I just went for 1 gram of pure protein source per lb...so 165-185 grams of protein a day from egg, chicken, shakes etc.
Drink at least 1/2 gallon of water per day....1 gal of fluid good. You can do cran juice, orange juice etc to add extra cals. Keeps you running clean and adds a bit of water weight so that you body is 'used to' be full of water and heavier.
Eat High Carb density foods. Look at all the food lables. Bagel = 300 cals, Bread =100. Substitute bagels for bread. Potatos and starches are high cal. Rice is good too. No simple sugars, you need to eat well to gain well. I forced myself to eat when I wasn't hungry sometimes just to ingest more calories.
Go to the Gym 3x a week. Do lifting of maximum 10 reps. Aim for 8, when you make 10, move up 5lbs for chest, arms, back etc. Legs you can move up faster.
All of a sudden, after like 6 months, you just get into it, and all of sudden you are bigger than most people. It takes time. When I was 18, I could only bench 75lbs for reps. When I stopped, I was doing 2x80 dumbells for 10 reps.
Working out is only 4 hours out of the week. It is your diet that will make the biggest difference.
