Height and weight please. Are you active?
Do about 2 months of highrep (12-15 reps) weight training, about 4 or 5 days a week. Stick to free weights (machines suck) and stick to compound lifts.
Eat a lot. Like, a lot a lot. Try to have something that resembles a meal about every 3 hours. Snack lightly in betwee. Try to get in 1 gram of protein per day, per pound of body weight (if you're 100 pounds, aim for 100 grams of protein a day). This is best achieved by eating a lot and having one or two protein shakes a day.
I recommend whey (mandatory) isopure (just a good brand). Glucose crystals are a plus.
After the two months your joints and whathaveyou will be ready to do some real lifting. Max-Ot (maximum overload training) is great for packing on weight. The reps are gonna be much lower now. Again, compound free weight lifts are the nuts. Pull-ups, bench press, military press, deadlifts, and squats are your friend.
Your body will absord protein to repair your muscle much better if your insulin levels are spiked. Do this by consuming some carbs after you workout, but before you have your protein shake. Sweet potatos are phenomenal (tasting and for you).
I have a lot more knowledge on this subject and my roommate has a stupid (read as shitload) more knowledge about it than myself. For further assistance, simply ask.
Boy, you got me confused with a man who repeats himself.
