I just played this hand and am wondering how you would play this...

Background info: The villian has only been at the table for 35 hands and is a maniac, at least by my standards VP$P 39%, PFR 29%, Post flop Aggression 5+.

Typically if I am reraised 3x pre flop and i'm only holding AK or AQ I will fold; however, with my limited knowledge of this player (see above), I had a feeling he didnt have a typical hand you reraise with pre flop although I wasnt completely ruling it out. If I completely miss on the flop its an easy fold.

Whats your move on the flop and what do you do now? Would you reraise the flop? Reraise here on the turn? Push here on the turn since he only would have $30 remaining? Fold?

I like the call on the flop, there is not a heck of a lot that has you beat here, 88 or Q8, this is a pretty good sized bet, the only downside is what to do on the turn if you dont raise, you are unhapppy if it checks through, in this case he bets which is good for you, I check raise here and hope he is not playing QJ.

I agree, it's hard to believe he has 88 because of his reraise preflop (then again you said he was a maniac so..). Seems to me he's probably on aces or kings and he MIGHT fold to an all-in, but for me I would probably push just in case he has something like AK of diamonds. He could of course also have a queen, either a split with AQ or he could have reraised with KQ (no clue why though..)

If hes raising that much, then I wouldnt even concern myself with any possibility thats hes ahead. I mean if he has 88 or QJ so bet it, but it sounds like hes just going ot keep beting no matter what he has.

Agreed. Re-raise him all-in. There are going to potentially be a lot of scare cards for you on the river. (straight cards, flush cards, etc.) Just get it all in so you don't risk outguessing yourself on the river. If he re-raised you w/ 8s then that's just the cost of doing business w/ a maniac. (and you have outs anyway!) The only time your re-raise/push on the turn is bad is if he actually has a premium hand (AA or KK) and lays it down. This isn't likely so push in my opinion.

Thanks for the input everyone. I check raised all-in which appears to be the consensus action. He called and flipped over JJ for Jacks full of Queens. At the time I felt like an idiot; however, it was nearly impossible for me to put him on JJ especially since he bet out on the turn.

After the flop, I was a 91.1% favorite so I guess I made the right play. Even maniacs hit 2 outers from time to time

So that qualifies as a bad beat. However there are two kinds of maniacs... good ones and bad ones. A good maniac can lay down a hand if he thinks he is beat. A bad one never will. Mostly online I seem to encounter bad ones. If I was up against a bad one I would push on the flop check-raise. I put him on a big pair or AK, and those are hands that the bad sort of maniac goes broke with.
