How Do Good Sessions Change Your Play (200NL)

Postby T-Rod » Thu Dec 07, 2006 1:47 pm

Let's say you are up a "bunch" for a multitabling session. For me, a "bunch" is 3 or more buyins as I only play 3 tables, and I usually only have 90 minutes or so to play.

Do you get more loose or more tight? I've found, I've gotten more tight because I don't want to give it back. I'm not worried about the $, but rather the post-poker sensation of walking around knowing I "lost" it. I prefer walking around feeling like I just struck a victory against the evil poker forces trying to separate my from my chips. :D

As a result, I usually quit playing so I can finish on a feel-good high. However, am I cutting my winning sessions/mojo short? Hmm. Thoughts.

Carrying a good feeling into your next session is worth the sacrifice of a little EV, methinks.

When I play a patient and relaxed game I win - that simple.

Agree with Northview and Bosox. I have the same feelings. And as long as I have them, it's +EV to continue to act in accordance with them.

But at the same time ... it would be much more +EV to stop having these feelings!! That's a psychological battle, but it's well worth fighting. I'm losing this battle so far, but I do hope to win eventually.

Query (for myself and others): is it possible that giving in to these feelings (feeling good about quitting to book a big win even though the situation remains ++++++EV) leads to losing the battle to stop having these feelings?
