It's kinda a shame for the small market teams as they're totally priced out of even the crappy end of the free agent market. GMs on those teams are going to have to REALLY show some smart moves to keep a decent squad together. The A's have done a good job last couple of years at that but even they've lost Thomas and now Zito by the looks of it, I guess they'll struggle this year too. Does anyone else think that Thomas (albeit ageing and a bit of a gamble) was one of the best pickups of free agency for the Jays? Obviously not as good as the 0.5m Oakland got him for last year, but 9m a year for a DH who hit nearly 40 homers last year looks like one of the few possible bargains this year....
