How to you play these provided:

1) the board isn't paired
2)the table is pretty loose and full of idiots

you hold 10 9

board is 8 A 7[s]


You check and theres about a half pot sized bet.... and two callers

Alot depends on position, but normally I like to put in a nice sized raise. In this case I might just call though since you gettign a nice price to draw. The only probem is that someone might have the higher flush draw.

If its heads up, I raising for sure and if he reraises, Im pushing all in.

I agree with iceman. I'd tend to play them a little more aggressively in position to be deceptive (but if you are getting a good price on drawing there is nothing wrong with playing your draw passively since you are getting odds). I'd be less likely to raise if I thought that my opponent was willing to come back over the top of my raise. If you are out of position playing it more passively is going to make it more obvious what is going on. You could lead out with a fairly strong bet (which would be correct since you are a coinflip against most hands on the flop) with the intention of coming over the top of any raise (similar to what iceman suggests).

In my opinion it isn't the medium pairs that are the hardest hands to play in NLH--it is the draws. I think every draw is situation dependant. Sometimes you should be aggressive, sometimes passive, sometimes you should just muck it.
