3/6 nut flush draw / 2nd nut low on flop?

Postby davebreal » Sat Dec 02, 2006 12:53 pm

is this an obvious flop push or is call preferable? i thought the pot was probably too big on the river for me not to put it in with 2nd nut low. little/no hands against villain

Rhound - I got 2 outted in a $2000 pot last year, I have also broke a cup in half playing catcher. The feelings were similar.

i don't like your line -- it seems too indecisive (the river push is just a technicality).

first, i DO like the flop bet for reasons you mentioned. from then on....

if you're going to play this hand to the felt, i think you need to re-pop the flop. the problem is that you're likely up against a protected nut low and/or a nut low with flush blockers. that, and you have no low protection yourself. some people will play sets on low boards like this, but you can't count on this level of idiocy with no reads. finally, i think calling off your chips is bad as a general rule, and your river bet pretty much had no fold equity unless villain is a compete idiot.

due to what i mentioned above, i think i'd dump this to the flop raise without any reads. with reads, my play range expands greatly.

one mantra that i'm "learning" with regards to players i have no reads on is "respect raises". the maniacs reveal themselves pretty quickly, so i don't get bluffed out of many pots before i have a plan on how to fleece them.

[edited because i don't want my spelling to be as bad as rhound's]
