Set vs MiniReraise (50NL FR)

Postby mwgr5 » Tue Nov 07, 2006 8:34 pm

No hand history with villian.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (9 handed) from (Format: Bet The Pot)

saw flop|saw showdown

Button ($22.30)
SB ($22.95)
BB ($54.05)
UTG ($41.20)
UTG+1 ($14.95)
MP1 ($53)
MP2 ($55.20)
Hero ($46)
CO ($50)

Preflop: Hero is MP3 with [7h], [7c]. CO posts a blind of $0.50.
UTG calls $0.50, 3 folds, Hero calls $0.50, CO (poster) checks, 1 fold, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: ($2.50) [7d], [Jd], [2h] (5 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets $2.5, CO raises to $5, SB folds, BB folds, UTG folds, Hero raises to $15, CO folds.
What do you do after his mini reraise? I think I should have reraised more to not give him odds to chase a flush. Any comments about how to play this hand would be appreciated.

Final Pot: $22.50

Yeah, you probably should have made it $20 with like $12 of dead money in the pot. That way he'll be getting like 1.5 to 1 on his call instead of calling $12.5 into a pot o $19 where he's getting closer to 2 to 1.

It's kind of splitting hairs, but it's better to kill their odds more - they'll call that extra $5 a surprisingly large portion of the time and it'll give you more value in the long run.
