Getting a new laptop, thoughts?

Postby The Golden 1 » Sun Nov 05, 2006 2:33 pm

Well, now that I'm playing poker much more I'm finding overlap to be a nuisance. I currently play on a 12.1'' Dell 700m, with a 1200x800 resolution. While I could get a 1600x1200 monitor, I don't like playing my poker much in one sedentary location, and would rather get a new laptop instead.

My Dell has had some problems as have others I know, and I really don't like the way the Inspiron E1705 (1900x1200) looks. But besides that, I'd have to shell out $2000+ for a screen at that resolution, and I don't want to do that.

So my search has brought me to the HP dv9000t. I've customized a pretty sweet looking one for 1200, but the screen is a 1680x1050. So I'll be having an overlap of 150 on the vertical part, and I don't have any idea of how much this is. I figure it isn't much, but I really don't know. Anyone who has a screen at this res can shed some light? Thanks.

Well, it's 150/1050 of the vertical measurement, or 1/7th. It doesn't sound too much of a handicap.

When I play a patient and relaxed game I win - that simple.

That's exactly what I was looking for, you the man excession.

Hmmm, that doesn't appear too bad. Its not the buttons so much as wanting to be able to watch all the players at once. That seems to be fine at least on stars.
