$25/$50 against Ben Roberts

Postby iceman5 » Sat Nov 04, 2006 12:43 pm

Who is Ben Roberts? I have no idea, but hes playing 4 $25/$50 NL tables and has his own avatar and everything so hes obviously some pro that Full Tilt sponsors.

I raise to $175 with [Jc][Ts] in MP. Roberts calls in the BB. Hes running at 23 / 19 in the 75 hands I have so far. I dont know what his calling standards are though. Im at my standard 21 / 9 or so. The table is very tight and almost zero hands are going to showdown. I have $6200 and he has me covered.

Pot $375. Flop [Ac][Jd][3c]. he checks, I bet $275 and he calls.

Pot $925. Turn [5d]. he checks and I check behind,

Pot $925. River [Tc]. He checks. Whats the plan? Bet / fold I assume? How much?

And fold to a raise

I think you can value bet this...bet about $600. Its pretty marginal though. Personally without a better read I would check behind and look like a dolt when he flips over AT.

Harsh but fair :)

If I thought he was tricky I'd bet weak/call raise

If I thought he was suspicious I'd bet the pot (and fold to a check raise)

If I thought he was tight I'd check behind

Obviously! Since you said the table was tight I guess I'd check behind. I think I'd have more of a read on a guy with his own avatar than 23/19 though....

[EDIT] Triple B: if you checked behind and he showed AT, wouldn't you feel pretty damn good about not betting?!

Smokin' Al: Yes I would...lol. I meant to say an ace that would only be one pair...A9, AQ, etc.

Ben Roberts and Green Plastic. I think you need to work on your table selection ;)
