You guys want more hands posted that are "normal"...i think this one is basic...but i would like thoughts on the way i played it. I have no read on the button...but UTG is a decent and aggressive player. I think I extracted as much as possible from this hand...which is great

I bet this flop to take it down. If I didn't take it down...I knew I was drawing to the nuts

By the way the action played out...I knew the button had a flush or a set..probably the flush. I didn't want to just "slow call" the raise on the turn for two reasons: wanted to make a set pay to hit a full house..and i wanted to make sure enough money was in the pot so he would call my allin on the river.

Kenny I actually would not have raised the turn and tried to get the orignal bettor to come in behind me. If he does in fact have a flush you are going to get his money anyways. If he has the flush he is going to call his last $150 on the river assuming the board doesnt pair. The only cards that kill your action is another heart on the river, but since you think he has the flush that means there are only 6 flush cards left. The other reason I dont like the turn reraise is it pot commits you even more to call a bet if the board pairs on the river. If you just call the turn bet and the board pairs and your opponant pushs all in you can considerfolding, after your raise you are a lot more comitted to call. Before seeing the final result my gut here was that player 1 has a Q, and that the 2nd player has a baby flush with something like . This is great for you because you most likely take someones stack unless the board pairs on the river.

I think UTG was done with his hand unless he had a set. Remember he was a decent player and has to know that one of us has the flush. If I just call I'm giving him great odds to annihlate me. If I raise..he may call anyway and at least I'm protecting my hand and getting the money that I can from him on the turn. IMO

Ok I see your point, the extra $20 isnt worth the risk of letting him in with 2 pair or a set. The other thing that I didnt mention before is that by just calling it may look like you are still on a draw, with the . The third raise in NL is always a monster and by raising you are definatly giving away the stregnth of you hand, by reraising first postion with almost always drop their lower flush, and you may also scare the raiser out of the pot too if he has the Q. I'm not saying that you made a bad player, here but with postion in this situation, I still think I just call. The risk being if the board pairs, I have to be willing to fold to a big bet.
