You know, plays even worse than those I've been making lately. Plays like the wonderful one I saw tonight. Here goes.
$10 NL. A guy with $14 in front of him goes alll-in preflop from under the gun -- first to act! Now, out-of-nowhere all-ins preflop with no raises in front are only made by either (a) bad players [need better term! see below] or (b) people who have been perceptive and noticed that these kinds of bets are being called. In this case, the guy going all-in preflop seemed to me like a decent player. I sure wasn't going to call him with anything other than AA. I folded. But he got two calls from slightly short stacks, flipped over AA, and did not get sucked out and made a quick fifteen bucks or so. One of the guys who called had
[8h]. He left the table, but not before swearing up a storm and saying -- and I quote -- "I hate this site your flush never hits."
Now is Mr.
[8h] a fish? A maniac? You can't tell from this one play, of course, but you do know one thing about him: he justified a call with a remarkably unsound piece of logic.
So I need a term for somebody who is just dying to give his money away, and who justifies his worst plays with even worse logic. The term doesn't have to be derogatory, or descriptive. Just a term. Anybody got a good one?
But I do want to register total agreement with TW on one point. Don't be a jackass or berate people. And try not to look down on them or think of them as idiots. Just be glad they're willing to give you their money, and leave it at that.
