I didn't particularly like the flop but no one showed strength so Its hard to put anyone on the straight. Was the bet on the river in last position a bad idea?

Hand 1: No other way to play it I don't think. His call on the end sucks. He was bad enough to call a maximum bet, so make it!

Hand 2: You really should bet the flop IMO. I don't like checking those one suited flops, indeed I like to lead out weakly sometimes or bet the full thing, kinda depends. Anyway, on the turn I think raising the maximum is fine. You'd kick yourself if you let someone boat up...

Hand 3: River bet is good if you think you'll shift a bigger set. I think I probably just check it down. It's a bluff, so it kinda depends on your customers. If you want a value bet to get AK involved or whatever, betting $1-2 is probably better, folding to a raise.

In hand 1, I wasn't concerned about the short stack. I was wondering if I was too aggressive with my raise to push out the other players. Would raising it to $10 be a better play to hope to suck someone in?

Potential rewards of someone making a big call/raise outweighs the possible loss of an overcall from the players yet to act, IMO. They won't call MUCH with a straight, but probably will call a big raise with any boat.

You want to consider just calling the nuts on the river when you have a straight, someone else leads out with almost certainly the same straight and there's players to act behind; that's about the only time, really.
