great post ex.
I feel that the minutia of american politics is lost on the those that get a basic knowledge of our culture and believe they are experts on the American political climate.

in the US the extremist elements of both political parties control the political process.
my point in this thread deals with the fact that the left wing has almost unchallenged control of our education system and will use force to stifle oposition to its dogma includind denial of civil rights.

the following organization defends idividuals both right and left from violations of their rights in academia

I finally went through and read the link. I was rather astonished by what I found.

I had assumed that I would read the Townhall right-wing dude's take on the facts, and then I would have to go to the original sources to find out what really happened, and why it's not such a major meltdown as the guy claims. But no, I didn't even have to do that. I just had to read the Townhall column itself.

Here's a summary of what happened.

A guy didn't get promoted to full professor. Then, a while later, he did.

And THIS is proof of bias in liberal academia!

You have got to be kidding me.

I would write a semi-dissertation on the subject, but I'll just leave it at this. In the world of academia, being promoted to full professor is not a right. It's not something that happens to everybody. Being "a good teacher" is often not even an important part of the issue. Contributions in other areas can be more important.

Professors who don't get along with their colleagues regularly don't get promoted to full professor. Professors who piss off the wrong person at the wrong time. Professors who make waves, of any sort, that cause any major donor to get unhappy and contact the administration. It happens all the time.

Unreal.
