Xbox 360 Giving Away Hold'em Game Until Friday
Players Will Have to Pay For It Starting This Weekend

A Texas hold’em card game for the Xbox was launched this morning, and as a promotion, the game will be offered free until Friday morning at 1 a.m. The offer is available to all Xbox Live Gold and Silver members, who can download and own the game at no charge.

Xbox Live allows players to download arcade-style games for a small amount of money (usually under $10) or “Microsoft Points.” Texas Hold’em costs 800 points after Friday.

Designed to simulate the risk/reward of real poker game play, keep gamers honest, and discourage opponents from betting too recklessly, Texas Hold’em has a new feature called “Persistent Bankroll.”

Players’ virtual bankrolls are tied to their Xbox gamertag and keeps a running tally of their chip counts. If you lose all of your chips in a poker game, you’ll have to play lower-stakes games to make back your stack and earn your way to the big tables.

Texas Hold’em also offers multiplayer support for up to eight gamers, three modes of game play (standard games, scenarios, and tournaments), achievements, extensive online leaderboards and statistics, and high-definition graphics.

I dled it late last night. It is alright some people are complaining about not being able to check/fold hands and stuff before the action reaches you. The best part about it is probably the voice chat so I can berate the noobs and get my 50$'s worth out of xbox live.

i need to get that stupid arcade download... i don't have it yet.

Well I never had an original Xbox so I decided to pick up a 360. It's pretty sweet especially with xbox live. There really aren't many games out for it yet, but all the AAA titles will be coming out in a few months to combat the PS3 and nintendo. It worked out great for me because I got to play all of the older original Xbox titles I missed out on such as Halo 1/2 and Ninja Gaiden. The live arcade where you can download games is also a pretty neat idea. There are some sweet arcade classics in there like smash tv and the recently released street fighter 2 arcade port. Overall I am happy with my purchase and have been happily doing nothing but playing Dead Rising (AWESOME GAME) and pwning newbs on Halo 2 for many hours.

Is this not some sort of fancy freeroll that you can play with 12 year olds? Just so I'm not misunderstanding...
