I saw Mad Genius playing $50/$100 NL last night. Then he fired up another table and started playing Farzad Bonyadi heads up $50/$100 NL.

Yeah, I saw the hand, Stelvask.

The problem I see with MG is that he has TOO much disregard for money. I think this has to due with him coming from a rich family. I also dont think he ever really grinded from the bottom to build his roll. He started with a giant roll and is playing higher than he should be.

Im not saying he isnt very very good though, because he is, and hopefully he will never have to pay the fact that he didnt really pay his dues.

The game last night looked very soft and has me sitting here wondering if I'll ever have the cajones to jump in there. The guy who was on MGs right was horrible.

A very interesting thread that brings several thoughts to my mind:

1) I'm completely amazed at the amount of self-modesty here amongst such a competitive bunch.

2) I think serious consideration has to be given to not just win rate (or what you think a person's win rate is), but also amount of variance. It's possible to have a high win rate but also have a high enough amount of variance that you either raise your risk of ruin or just burn out. With all due respects to MG, didn't he basically say he didn't want to play anymore? If so, then I say his style is perhaps inferior to others because it causes burnout (cf. like the tortoise and the hare fable). I've looked at his posts and he is really an incredible player, hand reader though.

All that being said, I really think Iceman is pretty incredible considering he's still passionate after 3 years of daily play and also wins at a high level without too much variance. Playing with him live several times is freightening. I remember one hand where he was watching me and told me exactly what I had in the hand. Not a hand range, but my exact two cards. Yikes.

Actually, I'm impressed with everyone. I'm jealous of Xaston whose style I'd love to immulate but have no fooking idea how to do it. Kenny just seems to march ever forward with huge swings which he handles with increible maturity for someone with both youth and talent (those usually do not go hand in hand). Shobute always seems to have great insight and he has the balls to also post hands where he thinks he misplayed them. Despite busting me in the BTP cash game (that bastard  ), Droqqa has taught me tons such as concepts like WA/WB. I never fail to learn from his posts.
Aisthesis is the thinking man's player, and I'm amazed at how analytical he can get with so little information. I also always remember his post about raising 1/6th a guys stack on the flop so you can get him pot committed by the river.

Impressive bunch.

I am still with droqqa. The main reason is he is beating amost the bigest tables online and he is dingwith consistency. I voted for him for tat reason, trod. I think palman, MG and Xas are good (although on way different leagues, IMHO.) but their styles makes me think thy have a huge chance og going broke at some point or brn out, as you said. After droqqa making the list is really really hard, specially based on the info I/we have on them.
