I just started living on my own. Mommy and daddy are no longer in charge of food shopping. I am (well, Charles, Kara, Jenn, and I sorta share it, but now I can get basically whatever I want whereas before I couldn't.) What are some foods that I may be missing out on that are really delicious and good deals. Think frozen foods section or something easy to make.

A few of my favorites are

I believe Derk has gone on record saying this is a super delicious food that's a good deal:

Most frozen foods aren't very good, but a full freezer is an essential part of a bachelor's life for those times when he can't be bothered (or is too p1ssed) to cook.

F[]ck boring French bread pizza, go for one with a variety of cheese

If you like pasta and sauces, get some filled pasta and tubs of sauce - takes about 5mins and can be very tasty - lots of choice in fillings and sauces too.

Chili is good news - I defer to Derk here. If you're doing rice with it (which is a must in my book) make sure it's basmati, and use 2 x water to 1 x rice. Rinse the rice in a sieve first, add the rice to the boiling water, cover, bring back to the boil, leave simmering for 10 minutes...perfect rice.

Try some of as a starter.

Learn to cook some simple stuff or eat some more expensive bits and pieces from the deli or whatever. Frozen ready meals are full of salt, MSG, all sorts of nasty E numbers and shit like that. OK in moderation but eat that stuff every day and it'll take years off your life.

Instant potatoes are good for a quick side dish with like some grilled chicken breast or some frozen chicken strips or somethin.
