Nothing much to argue with here. It goes without saying that we'll sorely miss Owen's goals. Eriksson's gamble has backfired spectacularly, with his selection of an untested and inexperienced striker he seems unwilling to use looking like little more than a PR stunt.

Hargreaves played as well as I've seen him play. England's best hope is probably in dropping Lampard (which Eriksson doesn't seem to have the bollocks to do) and giving Hargreaves the holding role, allowing Gerrard to get forward and help Rooney/Crouch. Our defence looks as though it could use the extra protective layer.

If there was some way to involve Lennon without fatally weakening the side as a whole all the better, but I can't see it. I certainly wouldn't want us to play Beckham as a full time right back, as has been suggested in some quarters.

As regards our dismal 2nd half performance, I don't know what Eriksson says to them at half time, but whatever it is I wish he'd shut the f[]ck up.

Impressed with Hargreaves, Sven should DEFINITELY drop Lampard for him or Carrick and let Gerrard roam where he wants.

Lampard is just a fifth wheel right now. If the positions/roles were reveresed between Lampard and Gerrard, Gerrard would win the golden boot easy. But knowing Sven, he'll do bollocks-all and dump Gerrard in front of the back four again and let Lampard roam freely to sky balls over the cross bar at will.
