Even though he didn't bet pot on the turn, you're still not getting correct odds to chase your flush, and I wouldn't put too much stock in the gutshot since it wouldn't be the nut straight (with the 7, there are a lot of straights that could beat you if a 4 hit the river).

I think I just pack it in and wait for a better spot.

I think the flop call is fine. If even one more person calls after you, you're getting great odds for your FD.
