Allstar, have you ever heard the man speak? Ever seen him in a non-scripted conversation/interview?

I'm not sure what the definition of stupid should be. Is Bush smarter than the average American? Of course. Is the smarter than the average high school graduate? Probably by a little. Is he smarter than the average college graduate? Probably not (based on his grades in school and his SATs).

The question is, should the president of the most powerful country in the world be smarter than he is? I'd have to say yes. We have 250+ million people here, there has to be a better choice.

Where Bush has (up to now) excelled is in who he chose to advise him. He has been surrounded by people that were the best at what they do and loyal to him beyond all else. He must have something going for him because folks don't pledge that kind of loyalty for no good reason. They saw something in him that made them drink the koolaid, and that is a trait that can't be taught in school.

If I'm going to build a perfect president he'd have Clinton's intellectual capacity and charisma combined with Bush's leadership skills. I'd also throw Charlize Theron's face, Jennifer Anison's ass and Tiffany Amber Theissen's rack on there since we'd have to look at this Pres for 4 years.

Allstar, I was a Clinton fan in the beginning but lost respect for him after the whole blowjob situation. I couldn't care less that he got his dick smoked but looking me in the face and lying about it afterward is what pissed me off. The fact that it should have never gotten that far (Ken Starr is a kid toucher IMO) means nothing. If Bill admits to it then it's a whole different story.

The queers thing is so ridiculous that it's not worth even laughing at. I assume you are talking about the gays in the military bit? Yeah, that was not smart of him to use that as the first thing on the agenda when he was elected. It should be so far down the list of shit that went on in his admin tho, puhleeze.

I think he does get some of the blame on Al Queda, yes. Remember the flack he got for sending tomahawks into Afghanistan? He needed to do more of that and less on the political end to handle them, that's where he blew it. What about the crap he got over Somalia (nice job by the CIA there, thanks guys). Bush 1 put troops in Somalia in the first place, but that should never have gotten that far.

But does he get credit for getting in and out of Kosovo as quickly and successfully as he did? Hell no. BTW, how much did Republican leaders 'support the troops' during that war? My favorite quote on that:
Then-GOP Presidential candidate Governor George W. Bush: According to the Houston Chronicle:
“Bush, in Austin, criticized President Clinton’s administration for not doing enough to enunciate a goal
for the Kosovo military action and indicated the bombing campaign might not be a tough enough
response. ‘Victory means exit strategy, and it's important for the president to explain to us what the exit
strategy is,’ Bush said.” [Houston Chronicle, 4/9/99]
Yeah, like Bush should be talking about exit strategery, lol.

Bottom line IMO is that if he didn't screw up then Clinton could have gone down as one of the better presidents. Budget surplus, GDP growth, plus we turned things around and smacked the crap out of Japan's economy (remember how that was under Bush 1?). He also did a lot for welfare reform, even tho it pissed off the Dems.

Besides Lewinsky he screwed up with stuff like the ADA (Disabilities act, which is a huge costly POS), no tort reform, not being able to put something together on health care (Hilary was not the right person for that). He also signed the DMCA which pissed me off. He signed NAFTA but that was something put into place by Bush 1 and was going to happen regardless of who was in office.

In the end I will admit that I liked Clinton initially but was disappointed in that he didn't amount to more. Nothing is worse than having huge potential and wasting it (see Darryl Strawberry and Dwight Gooden for other examples of that).
