My first (real) trip to vegas

Postby Stelvask » Tue May 30, 2006 6:00 pm

I say real because i've been twice before turning 21, and lets face it... there's only so much to do there.

That being said, i finally can legally gamble starting June 19th, and i'll be heading out to vegas for a few days with some friends (we're gonna leave late sunday june 18th, and come back in the afternoon, june 21st).

I'm the only real poker player amongst us, and the only one who's not too worried about money. Anyone have any suggestions on some good places to play for ~$75/person/night? I'd like to stay at some place that's not too shabby, and they wanna stay at some places that provides the a chance to spend money on things other than the room. (my hopes of staying at the wynn were shattered instantly). Also, is there some way to get some sort of poker players room rate provided i play enough cards (which i plan to do anyways)?

aaaaaaaaslo, even though this is going to be during the week, any of you gonna be out there then? or the next weekend for that matter (i'm actually going to go back home for a few days, then go again to vegas the following weekend with my family - i come from a long line of degenerate gamblers :)

I'm the only real poker player amongst us, and the only one who's not too worried about money.

These two facts might be related. :D

If you have to play to get the poker rate, which most places require, IP would be the LAST place on earth for me. ISH. Really sorry room, and the fattest female guests on the Strip. <shudder>

Monte Carlo has a beautiful card room and lots of low-stakes tables.

Stardust is a nice compromise, I think. Rooms aren't too bad, I've heard.

Sahara is my favorite for cheap and I like the poker "area". Nice people and perhaps the best daily tournaments.

Dunno about the rates at Venetian, but if you can swing it...

As for rooms, can't help there. I haven't been invited up to any...yet.

The cheapest is usually the Sahara though it is at the north end of the strip and not close to anything. As MVP said IP is cheap and in the middle of everything. To get the poker rate you have to either sign up for a big tourney or play a certain number of hours per day you stay there. The Monte Carlo is ok, not super nice but decent digs. Check Vegas.com and Hotels.com. I will be there the 25th - 30th if you are still around Sunday we can meet up.
