IMPORTANT REGARDING NETELLER

Postby kennyg » Fri May 19, 2006 3:43 pm

The insta-cash Neteller rumors you hear on the forums are true. My brother just got taken for a lot of money. I suggest you do anything and everything to secure your money.

If nothing else... TURN INSTACASH OFF. You can do this by either calling Neteller or chatting live with them on their site. The scam going around right now is somehow they are taking money through people's account through instacash. That allows them easy access to the money in your bank account.

Another suggestion would be to create a seperate checking account not linked to Neteller. This way, as soon as the money is withdrawn through EFT, you could transfer it to a other account not linked to Neteller.

Two more things:

If you're constantly connected to the internet (cable or DSL) make sure you have a router. Routers have built in firewalls and make it much harder for your computer to get hacked.

Make sure not to have your important files (neteller id's, poker ids and paswords etc) on your free email accounts (yahoo, gmail, hotmail etc.) Those accounts are very easy to hack into.

Who is taking the money? Neteller, or someone who steals your netter account number and uses it? Don't they need to know your secure ID to do something? More info please.

i edited the top portion on more things you should do to avoid this thing. good news is my brother only lost his money in the Neteller account. They tryed to get a few thousand from his bank account but he caught it in time and completely closed his accounts. Neteller told him to do this (before they got his money) so I find it hard to beleive Neteller is behind the wrong doing.. just some idiots stealing money.

Turned it off, but he did ask why I wanted to disable it.

I was actually thinking about opening a separate "poker-only" checking account, and this would be another good reason to do so.
