Security Problems in Neteller?

Postby AlexMR » Sat May 06, 2006 3:47 pm

I found this link. Sounds really scary. Anyone has heard about something like this?

http://www.fullcontactpoker.com/poker-f ... 59800&st=0

Fortunately, neteller doesnt accept EFT for international accounts. If this results to be true, this is probably the last thing I needed to make me change to moneybookers.com. Neteller abuses international clients with fees and ridiculous charges...and thy dont even have an option for wire transfers, so we have to use the ATM to withdraw our money.

Comment on the subject....

just out of paranoia...i called neteller to disable my instacash.

the conversation went like this:

me: "can you disable my instacash?"

her: "yes...but i think if we disable it, thats a permanent change to your account."

me: "no its not."

her: "let me talk to my supervisor." (2 minutes or so pass) "ok. its not going to be permanent...but if you want it re-enabled eventually we're not going to encourage it. it'll be a bit of a process."

me: "oh really."

her: "im not saying its permanent. im just saying its a bit of a process on our end so my supervisor says it'll be a bit of a process to eventually re-enable it. so we're not going to encourage you to re-enable it"

me: "tell your supervisor that if it becomes a process then i'll just cancel my account."

her: "oh...its actually not a hassle after all. its only a hassle if you want to lower your instacash limit to, say, $200 or something. but disabling and re-enabling it is no problem at all."

what the hell?

 Almost sounds like Party's CS..

"Where is my bonus?"

"You haven't played enough raked hands, yet, you're 396 short."

"No i'm not, i've played enough"

"No you haven't"

"Yes I have"

"No you haven't"

"Ok, please withdraw all my funds to my neteller account then"

"Your bonus has been credited"
Poker is silly.

It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.

Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.

Thanks for the heads-up, guys. I called neteller. They told me as well it would be hard to reverse this, but I didn't believe them thanks to this thread. Besides, I'm not likely to ever use instacash again anyway.

But it seems like the instacash would only be a small part of the problem. If (and that's a big if) people can hack into neteller, can't they take everything I have out of neteller and put it into their own poker site or whatever, whether I have instacash turned off or not?

They might be able to do that but apparently whoever is behind this is only using instacash for some reason. Probably because its faster.

So far only people playing at B2B sites have been affected )or reported it anyway)
