NBA PLAYOFFS PREDICTION LINES GAME

Postby Felonius_Monk » Sat Apr 22, 2006 4:53 am

OK, thought we could have some fun with this, all the way to the finals.

Pick your scores from each round of the NBA playoffs, up to the finals. Points awarded for correct winner and scores. Whoever has the best score after the final game is the winner!

Here's the rules:....

Each round, you pick a score prediction for the matchups. Points are awarded as follows:

If you pick the HIGHEST SEED to win - 2 points
If you pick the LOWEST SEED to win - 3 points
If you pick the CORRECT SCORE - an ADDITIONAL 3 points added to your score.

So if you pick the top seed in the East (Detroit) to beat the lower seeded Milwaukee in round 1 by a 4-1 scoreline, and Detroit win it 4-1, then you score 2 points for the picking the right winner, 3 points for getting scoreline right = 5 points.

Sound simple enough?

Count up and post your points after each round and the winner at the end is whoever has the most points!

OK here's my first round picks:

Detroit over Milwaukee 4-0
Miami over Chicago 4-2
NJ over Indiana 4-3
Cleveland over Washington 4-2

San Antonio over Sacramento 4-2
Phoenix over LA Lakers 4-2
Clippers over Denver 4-1
Dallas over Memphis 4-2

Oh, I reckon it's still OK for folks to post predictions after game 1, but try to get them in ASAP (some of the game 1's are going down tonight I think..)

OK, the second round of games starts tonight (well, tomorrow Pacific time - 24th April anyhow). I think we need to say the competition's closed from this afternoon, so anyone wanting to play, get your predictions in soon!

No major shocks in round 1, Indiana winning in NJ probably being the biggest, 4-3 either way looking a good call on that one. Somewhat predictably the Clippers are 1 up on the higher seeded but weaker Nuggets. Bulls vs Heat is shaping up to be a good one too, after Miami's close win on Monday.

OK here's my round two picks...

Detroit over Cleveland 4-2
Miami over NJ 4-3 (REALLY tough one to call! I guess D-Wade might just be the difference, and also reckon that Miami's stronger bench might just win out over NJ's stronger starting 5 down the stretch).

Phoenix/LAL over Clippers 4-3
Spurs over Mavericks 4-3 (another nigh on impossible one to call - Dirk has been on fire lately but I think SAS have a bit more scoring depth and a better perimeter defence than most teams, might just shut down the Mav's perimeter scoring threat over 7).

I scored 27 points from the first round; 29 if Phoenix beat LA tonight in game 7. I'm away next week so I'll be back then to see how things are going!
