Quitting smoking

Postby JJSCOTT2 » Mon Mar 27, 2006 2:01 pm

Anyone done this? I'm on my second attempt, determined to succeed this time, but I'm still at that point where I want to shoot myself in the face to distract me from the fact that I can't have a cigarette...by the way, I'm using the patch, which I guess helps with the chemical dependency but is a miniscule portion of the total package that is smoking.

Tried a few times. Succeeded once for a few months but was at a party and people were smoking so of course I HAD to have one. Haven't succeeded since then.
Partake in my bollocks, bloody chav!

Dont drink or go to the bar for two weeks.

Before you do that, sit down and chain smoke 2-3 packs of cigarettes, then smoke a cigar or two. You will feel like death for a couple days, but it should help.

One thing that a friend of mine did (which I dont recomend, but worked for him) was to eat a cigarette. He was sick for two days, but seemed to do the trick.

Thanks for the replies, I am trying to avoid the bar but 2 weeks seems a little impossible since next to smoking, drinking is my favorite thing in the world. I get the point about the idea of smoking so much you make yourself sick, but I'm gonna avoid that too since I've already "quit" I don't want to go back and smoke again, at all.

As long as you are at a bar where people are smoking while you are drinking, you will most likely end up smoking. Drink at home, have friends over, etc. If you get drunk in a smokey bar, its real tough.

Take it from a former snuff/dip user...you DO NOT want to get addicted to smokeless tobacco - not only are you 10x more likely (scientifically proven) to get cancer than with cigerattes, do you really want to live the rest of your life after the surgeons have to remove half your face? I've been off the juice for awhile now and will never look back. That fear alone set me straight. Not to mention it's $6 a can up here in New England...
