Signing up under an affiliate

Postby Tepshen73 » Mon Nov 22, 2004 12:57 pm

What exactly does it mean to sign up under an affiliate? I have gathered if you do so you get some money back based on the amount you play, but what are the advantages or even disadvantages if there are any?

Most affiliates are people like ourselves who show banners promoting online sites, but there are also bonus codes you can enter into the software at signup time in order to be 'tracked' to a referrer (affiliate).

If you sign up to an online poker room using one of our banners then we will get some revenue based on the rake you generate.

In our case, since we are a free site (and running it costs $, not to mention the amount of unpaid free time we sink into it), we do not split any monies we may recieve (we haven't received ANY up to this point, as most of our membership are signed up with multifarious sites anyway).

But you can find some affiliates that will split the monies they receive with you. This will be a percentage usually not greater than 50%, and usually well below.

Having said all that, please support us and sign up somewhere via one of our banners! :D

We do it for the love, but some money to cover costs would be nice!

When you sign up under an affiliate, you get a sign up bonus and the affiliate gets a precentage of the rake that you generate.

For you to get something back, you would have to sign up with a rake rebate program under an affiliate. This is normally only offered to bigger players because the hassles of keeping track of each players stats and rebating them a portion of their rake is too much if the rebate is only going to be a few $$ each month.

If you were to click the Party banner on this page, it would tke you to Party Poker and if you signed up, you would be playing under the affiliatship of "Bet The Pot" and you would recieve a 20% bonus.
