Actually, I think the right math here is to ignore the aspect of the bad beat jackpot entirely at the beginning. Then, figure out if the extra rake they are taking from you at a BBJ table will hurt you in the long run even when there are larger average pots.

So, the Monster tables at party look to take an extra .50 away from each pot. If the pots at the Monster tables at your level are averaging $3 more than the normal tables, I would imagine you would never play the normal tables again.

Then, again, if the tables averages are the same, then play the tables that are raked less. This is why I like to go play at AJ's live rather than in the South Bay casinos as well. The pots are bigger because people are seeing flops with all kinds of trash and that makes the pots bigger than normal.

I would imagine the players at the jackpot tables are worse as well because their starting requirements suffer some because they are looking to have a bad beat.

Anyway, yeah, the bad beat tables are where the action is at most of the time too.

As long as all the extra rake is paid back in the BBJ I guess it would be neutral EV but increase variance.
