The player in seat 1 is a loose calling station and while he is up about $50 since your arrival, most of that is yours. Seat 2 is a weak player and seat 5 (on your right) is loose and often calls too far with draws. However, if he raises on the river (or on 6th with a scare card) it is usually indicative of him hitting his hand.
Eight players post and you are dealt split aces. Unfortunately the other two aces are out and here's the layout:
Dealt to seat1
Dealt to seat2
Dealt to seat3
Dealt to seat4
Dealt to seat5
Dealt to Starstealer
Dealt to seat7
Dealt to seat8
seat1 brings in and seat2 and seat5 call, you raise and seat8 calls. There is $12 in the pot going into 4th street. Here's the new cards:
Dealt to seat1
Dealt to seat2
Dealt to seat5
Dealt to Starstealer
Dealt to seat8
seat1 leads out for the double bet, seat2 folds, seat5 calls and it is to you. What is your action?
I decided to call here. First of all, I don't really like playing my counterfeited aces against a guy who paired his door card after calling a 3rd street raise. While trips are not out of the question, two pair is definitely a possibility.
After you call, seat8 folds. On fifth, you pick up a deuce:
Dealt to seat1
Dealt to seat5
Dealt to Starstealer
seat1 leads out again and seat5 calls. You call as well.
At this point, unless I hit a second pair, I'm fairly certain I'm beat. However, with the deuce in my hand, I'm of the opinion that it is less likely he has a deuce in the hole.
On sixth, you pick up a second pair. You lead out, seat1 raises, seat5 calls and you call. On the river you do not boat up and check-call.
seat1 shows a deuce in the hole and takes the pot with trip deuces.
So first of all - would anyone have just folded on 3rd or just flat called? Beyond 3rd, would anyone have folded here? This is the kind of situation that is kicking my ass in stud - though sometimes I am able to get away. My thought is that since most of my cards are accounted for, I should just fold it and wait for a better opportunity.
Thoughts? Opinions?
