This is $200 PLO on UB. Opponent is a very aggressive player who plays up to 5-10, but regularly drops down to the lower games, where he likes to show off his skills and superiority by bullying people or outplaying them. He just sat down with $200, I cover.

I get [8h][Td][Jc] in the CO, and limp after a few others. Villain in BB raises pot. I'm the only caller.

Flop ($20): [6h][9s]. Villain bets pot, I call.
Turn ($60): Villain bets pot, I call.
River ($180): . Villain pushes last $110 or so, I call.

Question: how important is having folding equity on the flop and taking control over the hand (obviously on the turn I don't have much FE left unless he was on a pure bluff)? I simply played the odds here, which was +EV, but maybe a more aggressive line would have been better.

i think letting maniacs and uberaggros doing the betting for you is a tried and true technique in poker. it sucks if he has TK, you got all the money in with your made hand, and that's what you wanted against this guy.

as for metagame issues, it might have been better to play back at him on the flop or turn. eventually these guys realize you will put them to the test and will generally give you a bit more respect.
