You should also realize that with a made low on the flop your hand isn't very good. Say your opponent has , you're probably thinking "I must make him pay to draw". Thing is, you're the one drawing, he's got 66% equity against your 34% since he's free-rolling your for high. Even without the spade draw he's a favorite 55/45.

be patient with droughts... they can seem like they last forever when you keep getting drawn out on for all or half the pot. one really good player i know -- a big winner at high stakes -- went on a 20k hand breakeven stretch. another good player i know playing mid- to high-stakes went on a 14k hand breakeven stretch. it can be frustrating, but you just need to know that you're getting your money in good and have confidence in that.
