Cbetting on dry board

Postby briachek » Sun Feb 03, 2008 12:32 pm

Heres a situation that came up recently. plo20 6 max table, folds to me in CO, i pot raise AAxx and only get called by a guy with $5 stack in bb who isn't very good but not spewy or anything. Flop is J22r. Checks to me. If I pot bet, its almost 1/2 his stack. Do I check behind and hope he bets turn and either raise him there or let him bet the river too?

I'm just not sure what to do in these situations as he's short so you would think he often will stack off with less than a full stack. However, there's not much on the board for him to have or for him to hit on the turn to be ahead of me. Do i just bet and hope he pushes or call with a lone J? If you don't cbet to trap, what is the least you will trap with? AKQQ? KKxx, AKQJ? It seems to be asking for trouble to trap with these hands in omaha but def seems to have merit.

I would usually just bet the flop, I feel that he's just as likely to crai with air as he would be to do something silly on the turn if we let him see another card. I don't think trapping is that bad of an idea though but would probably leave it for when we're playing against deeper stacks and want to control the size of the pot + get money out of worse hands.

I would probably only trap with AA or better, or a hand that isn't susceptible to being outdrawn by an overcard falling (ie KKxx is not a hand I would trap with, but AKQQ is).
Poker is silly.

It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.

Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.
