You know you've played poker too much when...

Postby EscapePlan9 » Thu Feb 09, 2006 2:16 pm

I remember there was an amusing thread on 2+2 forums on this very topic, but I forget most of them. Lately I've been catching myself using these gems:

(After my neighbor challenges me to Mortal Kombat)
"Yeah, I'm all-in on that."

(After some friends of mine and I were looking for our friend John somewhere)
"Where is John? I think we're drawing dead."

Anyone else use poker phrases like these?

I dreamed about poker again, that could be a bad sign.

But what I dreamed about was winning $5,000 from a bad beat jackpot. That's not a good sign for my poker playing of late.

when you call one of your non-poker friends a fish/donkey (or when you call a poker friend a fish/donkey in a non-poker related context).

similarly, when you screw something up, and you refer to it as 'donking' it up.

I'm not sure if this counts... but i bought a beta fish for my room. my room mate plays poker under the user name 'mexor'. i named my fish mexor.

Since we were both in cognive science at the time, and had just gone over logical proofs in class, i wrote the following proof in the door:

If: Mexor = fish
&IF: Dave = Mexor
THEN: Dave = Fish

he was so taken aback by the infallability of my logic that he never erased it. 3 months later the marker has permantly fixed itself to our whiteboard, and is now unerasable.
